Privacy Policy

What we collect

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, mobile number, and a password. Your password is never stored in plain text — it is one-way hashed (bcrypt) before it touches our database, and no one, including our own team, can retrieve or view your original password.

If you use the marketplace, we store what you choose to publish on your profile: headline, organization, sectors, stages, description, links, and an optional photo. You control whether this profile is public or private.

We log login and signup events (timestamp, IP address, device/browser information) for account security and to detect abuse.

How your data is used with AI features

When you use an analysis feature (pitch review, startup analyzer, market intelligence, portfolio analysis, and similar tools), the information you submit — including any pitch deck you upload — is sent to a third-party AI provider (Google Gemini, with Groq as an automatic backup) to generate your result. These providers process the request but VentureLens does not authorize them to use your submissions to train their models beyond their own standard API terms.

We store the result of each analysis (and a short summary of what you searched) so you can see your own history, and so our team can review activity for security and legal-compliance purposes.

Marketplace and messaging

If you send a contact request to another member, they will see your name, organization, headline, and your message. Your email is only revealed to them if they accept your request — and vice versa.

Where your data is stored

Account, profile, and analysis data is stored in a managed PostgreSQL database (Neon). Reasonable technical measures are in place to protect it, but no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

You can request a copy of your data, or request that your account and associated data be deleted, by emailing hello@venturelens.ai. We aim to act on deletion requests promptly, subject to any legal retention obligations.

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date.
